Differences among CNC machining center, engraving and milling machine and engraving machine

Engraving and milling machine:

As the name implies, it can be carved or milled. On the basis of the engraving machine, the power of the spindle and the servo motor is increased, and the machine body bears the force, while maintaining the high speed of the spindle. Engraving and milling machines are also developing at a high speed. They are generally called high-speed machines. They have stronger cutting ability and very high machining accuracy. They can also directly process materials with hardness above HRC60. They can be formed in one time, and are widely used in precision mold core rough and finish machining in one time. Mold copper electrodes, aluminum products are processed in batches, shoe mold manufacturing, fixture processing, and clock and watch industries. Due to high cost performance, fast processing speed and good finish of processed products, it plays an increasingly important role in machine tool processing industry.

CNC machining center:

Hong Kong, Taiwan and Guangdong are also known as computer gongs. The characteristics of processing parts on the machining center are: after the processed parts are clamped once, the CNC system can control the machine tool to automatically select and replace tools according to different procedures; Automatically change the spindle speed, feed rate of the machine tool, the movement track of the tool relative to the workpiece and other auxiliary functions, and automatically carry out multi process processing such as drilling, countersinking, reaming, boring, tapping, milling, etc. for each processing surface of the workpiece.

Because the machining center can complete multiple processes in a centralized and automatic manner, it can avoid manual operation errors, reduce the time for workpiece clamping, measuring, machine tool adjustment, workpiece turnover, handling and storage, and greatly improve the machining efficiency and accuracy, so it has good economic benefits. Machining centers can be divided into vertical machining centers and horizontal machining centers according to the position of the spindle in space.

Engraving machine:

The torque is relatively small, and the high spindle speed is suitable for the processing of small tools, focusing on the “carving” function, not suitable for large workpieces with strong cutting. At present, most of the products on the market under the banner of carving machines are mainly for processing handicrafts, with low cost. Due to low precision, they are not suitable for mold development; Engraving and milling machine, machining center. In terms of engraving machine index data, the maximum spindle speed (r/min) is compared: machining center 8000; The most common engraving and milling machine is 240000, and the minimum high-speed machine is 30000; Engraving machines are generally the same as engraving milling machines. Engraving machines for high gloss processing can reach 80000, but they use air floating spindles instead of ordinary electric spindles.

Spindle power: the machining center is the largest, ranging from several kilowatts to tens of kilowatts; Engraving and milling machines take the second place, generally within 10kW; Engraving machine is the smallest.

Cutting amount: the machining center is the largest, especially suitable for heavy cutting and rough cutting; Engraving and milling machine takes the second place, suitable for finishing; Engraving machine is the smallest.

Speed: Since the engraving milling machine and engraving machine are relatively light, their moving speed and feed speed are faster than those of the machining center, especially the high-speed machine equipped with linear motor, whose moving speed can reach 120m/min.

Precision: the three are almost the same.

In terms of processing size:

The area of the workbench can better reflect this. The minimum workbench area (unit: mm, the same below) of domestic machining centers (computer gongs) is 830 * 500 (850 machines); The largest worktable area of the engraving and milling machine is 700 * 620 (750 machines), and the smallest is 450 * 450 (400 machines); The engraving machine generally does not exceed 450 * 450, and the common one is 45 * 270 (250 machines).

From the perspective of application objects:

The machining center is used to process the workpieces with large milling amount, large molds, materials with relatively high hardness, and is also suitable for the roughening of ordinary molds; Engraving and milling machine is used for finishing small moulds with small milling amount, suitable for processing copper and graphite; Low end carving machines prefer to process wood, bi color plates, acrylic plates and other plates with low hardness. High end carving machines are suitable for polishing and polishing wafers and metal shells.

In foreign countries, there is no such word as CNC engraving milling machine. Strictly speaking, engraving is a part of milling, so foreign countries only have the concept of machining center, and the concept of small machining center is derived to replace engraving milling machine. Whether to buy a engraving machine or a CNC milling machining center is often a question to ask yourself, depending on the actual production needs. In addition, there is the current popular high-speed cutting machine (HSCMACHINE), which is called high-speed machine in China.

Let’s first make clear the difference between the three models:

1. CNC milling and machining center are used to complete the processing equipment of workpiece with large milling amount.

2. CNC engraving and milling machine is used to complete small milling volume or soft metal processing equipment.

3. High speed cutting machine tool is used for processing equipment that can finish medium milling and minimize the grinding amount after milling.

4. An in-depth analysis of the structure and data processing type of the above equipment can help us make the right choice.

The article has already explained the difference between engraving and milling machine, machining center and engraving machine in detail. I believe you should have a certain understanding of these three.
